About FMA NHS


Founded in 1974, the Financial Management Association (FMA) National Honor Society (NHS) is the only internationally recognized honorary specifically for finance students. Students inducted to the NHS have a unique means of demonstrating their academic and professional excellence to potential employers. This honor sets apart from others when pursuing your career as less that 5% of all finance graduates are eligible to join the FMA NHS.


In Fall 2014, The Financial Management Association Honor Society (FMAHS) welcomed its inaugural class of members. Membership is selective and competitive. The minimum GPA qualification for new members is a 3.5 - on a 4.0 scale. Members have interned with companies such as Wells Fargo Securities, Deloitte, BBVA, Regions, E&Y and SunTrust Robinson Humphrey, just to name a few. FMAHS provides a support network for the top students interested in a career in finance. These elite students represent the Harbert College of Business and Department of Finance in premier business engagements, leadership seminars, case competitions, corporate visits and continuing education programs designed to foster engagement and personal relationships within the society and beyond.
